Democracy 2.0

Mobilize.org launches the Democracy 2.0 Campaign, and we need your help!

Our current democratic process is broken and the majority of our country has lost faith in our political system. The exact roots of this distrust are many, but it is now time that we stand up and address one core cause: the deliberate rejection and lack of support for citizen engagement in the policy process.

Beginning on July 4, 2007, we call upon the members of our generation to begin a process to these ends. This process shall result in the establishment of a renewed government, one that empowers the individual citizen in a way that our founding fathers may have never dreamed possible. Through the unique characteristics that define the Millennial Generation and the technology afforded to us at this point in history, we find that it is necessary and proper to demand a new process, Democracy 2.0.

Q. What is Democracy 2.0?

A. Young people not only contributing to, but building the democracy we hope to inherit.

The purpose of the Democracy 2.0 is to call attention to the main problems of our current political system, highlight the distinct characteristics of our generation, and provide guidelines for change to help cultivate a new political process in America.

Beginning today, we will seek the input of the fellow members of our generation to help shape and form this new citizen-centered government. We are beginning with a simple blog tool that requests your input on a set of questions. Please visit www.mobilize.org to participate in the conversation!
